Tiger 2.0

Posted on Apr 7th, 2007 by Jon : Billionaire Jon
Great Tiger Woods article in the latest Sports Illustrated.  Some of my favorite quotes...

"I hate sitting still," he says from across the table. "I hate being stale. I've always got to be moving. I've always got to be challenged."

"a day without adrenaline is a day wasted"
(Love that!)

Any Tour player could have told me: You don't learn about Tiger when you play golf with him. You learn about yourself.

"Tiger is a sponge," he says. "He has an incredible memory, and he's had years to soak up information from people who work for large companies." Wood pauses, as if waiting for a presentation graphic. "Whatever he gets into, he gets into all the way. Right now, it's skiing. He's a nut for skiing, and every time I talk to him he knows more about skiing. That's how he is."

Live with me!

Posted on Apr 9th, 2007 by Jon : Billionaire Jon
So my dear roomie has up and moved to San Diego for a new job.  I'm stuck (gosh, you can't ever say "stuck" when you live in sunny SoCal!) with a great apartment and no roommate.  I'd love to find someone super cool to live with.  Fortunately Zaadz is a pretty good source of cool people.  So I thought I'd post here.  I live in Brentwood (west LA) so if you happen to know people in the area that are looking for a place to live (or know people who know people...) feel free to pass this along.  Would love to live with a fellow Zaadzster if it's the right fit!

**************************

Looking for a Roommate – Split-level living for under a grand – Best deal in Brentwood

About the place: 2 BR/3 BA in the heart of Brentwood (Mayfield and Barrington).  Large multi-level apartment with private entrance in secure building.  Split bedrooms and vaulted ceilings and lots of closet/storage space.  Semi-private rooftop deck with views of ocean and The Getty Center.  Two underground gated parking spots.  Fridge, microwave, air conditioning, etc..  Apartment is walking distance of many restaurants, coffee shops, Whole Foods, yoga, etc.  No pets/smoking/drugs.

Your share of rent is $995/month and you’ll have your own bedroom, bathroom and parking space.  We’re on a month-to-month lease so you’re not tied into a 12-month lease but I am looking for someone who is willing to commit for a minimum of six months.  Based on people I’ve talked to this is the best deal in Brentwood and this place should rent out for at least $500 to $1,000 more a month.

About me: I’m a 31-year old entrepreneur running two companies in the online learning industry.  We have an office in Santa Monica so I’m gone a lot of the time.  I have a large network of friends and business colleagues here in Los Angeles.  I’m a healthy guy and like to eat well and exercise almost every day.  I’m not much into wasting time or watching TV (don’t currently own a television).  I’ve never paid a bill late and am very respectful of other peoples’ things and space.  If you’re interested you can find out more about me here: http://jon.zaadz.com

What I’m looking for in a roommate: I’d love to live with someone who has a lot of positive energy and is really ambitious and driven and shares most of the qualities I’ve listed above.  Male or female is fine by me (my last roommate was female and we got along very well).  Ideally you’d be in your late 20s or early 30s but I’m flexible on that front.

If you’re interested please send me an e-mail at jon at edurev dot dom and tell me more about yourself.  If there’s a possible fit I’ll drop you a line and we can arrange a time to check out the place.  My former roommate was re-located to San Diego and is still paying rent but you could move in immediately if you’d like.  And if you have any additional questions please feel free to e-mail or call as well.  Thanks!

Jon

Thinking big...really big...what helped?

Posted on Apr 14th, 2007 by Jon : Billionaire Jon
Been thinking lately about how much bigger I'm thinking in the last year than I have ever thought and what's lead to where I'm at.  Here are the top things:

#1 - Surrounding myself with people who think big.  I'm finding myself gravitating to people who think bigger about life and changing the world.  And as I spend more with these type of people my "thinking big" muscle is strengthend.

#2 - Improving my diet and exercise regimens.  When I have great energy I think much bigger.  My diet and exercise has improved tremendously in the last year and so it's no surpise to me that I'm thinking bigger.

#3 - Visualization.  I'm trying to spend at least 5-10 minutes every day visualizing what I know I can create.  The simple process of doing this has significantly expanded my conception of what's possible.

#4 - Reading stories of people who thought big.  I love (love!) stories of people who changed their world.  MLK.  Gandhi.  Everyone in the great new book Founders at Work.  Tiger Woods.  Jay-Z.  Plants seeds...

#5 - Lots of other things...watching Entourage (don't ask me why :))...Jay-Z's Fade to Black concert video...looking out over the lights of LA at night...

So your turn...what makes you think big?  Really big...

Finding Balance

Posted on Apr 20th, 2007 by Jon : Billionaire Jon
Finding Balance
The greatest art in spiritual life is finding balance. The entire teachings of the Buddha are summed up in his encouragement to find and travel the middle path. To seek neither the extremes of mortification and aversion for life, nor the extreme of indulgence, losing ourselves in pleasure-seeking. The balance between these two is the path of awakening and freedom. The path of balance is to be with what is true in life and to love that, to be committed to the truth on every level of our being. --Christina Feldman and Jack Kornfield, Stories of the Spirit, Stories of the Heart

Trying To Fill the Hole

Posted on Apr 22nd, 2007 by Jon : Billionaire Jon
Trying To Fill the Hole
One sure clue as to whether we're being motivated by aspiration or expectation is that aspiration is always satisfying; it may not be pleasant but it is always satisfying. Expectation, on the other hand, is always unsatisfying, because it comes from our little minds, our egos. Starting way back in childhood, we live our lives looking for satisfaction outside ourselves. We look for some way to conceal the basic fear that something is missing from our lives. We go from one thing to another trying to fill up the hole we think is there.
